Of the many issues facing the law enforcment community, maintaining public trust is key.
My entire career I have been called upon to maintain a high quality of conduct necessary in law enforcement. Our deputies are in a position of trust and responsiblity for the community. I believe it is important to continually promote high expectations and a clear mission of the Sheriff's Office. Courage, compassion, teamwork, trust worthiness, justice and service are fundamental values that are the cornerstone of responsible law enforcement. I learned long ago in my career, that we can only accomplish our mission by partnering with the community. I will ensure the employees of the Sheriff's Office will receive the best training available in order to provide the best service for Hays County. By promoting our values on a consistent basis from the top down we will ensure our standard of quality and obtain results of the highest caliber.
I will work hard to keep Hays County safe, by making public safety my number one priority to earn your trust and confidence in the Sheriff's Office.

I am dedicated to keeping the people of Hays County safe and secure even during tough economic times. I will use my experience working with County budgets to make sure every dollar spent by the Hays County Sheriff's Office will be necessary and will yield results to enhance the safety and security of the taxpayers. I will work to keep offiicers on the streets, streamline administravtive functions and minimize costs. I will work efficiently and effectively with other local agencies and groups to assist with outreach efforts to youth, the elderly and all of Hays County. I will work not only with local agencies but also with other County, State and Federal authorities and programs to coordinate and lead Hays County law enforcement. I will utilize these alliances to find cost effective ways to meet the needs and reach the goals for exemplary law enforement for Hays County.
Jail overcrowding has become a serious problem for Hays County. Not only is our current jail over-crowded, resulting in a cost to taxpayers for inmate housing in other counties but our jail itself is in disrepair and in need of immediate attention. As your Sheriff, I will work within the judicial system to keep the most violent inmates in jail while diverting less serious offenders to programs designed to monitor, educate and reform. I intend to work and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to address this issue. Now, more than ever, Hays County needs a proven leader to find real solutions and make tough decisions. I have the experience needed in this area.
